Worldwide regulation requires that blood be stored and transported under strict temperature control to ensure it’s safety and efficacy. However, in practice this is often logistically very difficult to comply with. CoolVu Time Temperature Indicators have been developed to monitor the temperature history of the blood bag/container that it is placed on, and gives a clear signal, by means of a visual indication to the health care professional, as to the true state of the blood. This has the advantage of ensuring that only safe blood is transfused, in addition to reducing the amount of blood discarded based on its unknown temperature history.
