Product innovation is the engine behind Freshpoint, with the emphasis placed on science based products that provide effective solutions to existing problems. Freshpoint’s product development success is a tribute to the quality of our research team, under the leadership of Professors Yoav Eichen and Dietrich Haarer.
The investments made in our intellectual property are protected by a series of worldwide patents, with additional patent applications being filed on an ongoing basis.
In addition to the R&D conducted in-house, we are proud to have BASF, the largest chemical company worldwide, as our development partners in the commercialization of our ink based time temperature indicators technology branded as OnVu™.
Research Programs
Freshpoint is proud to have been selected to participate as technical partners in various multinational research programs. These include:
"Novel Technologies for a Safe and Transparent Food Supply" Funded by the European Union, CHILL-ON aims to improve the quality and safety, transparency and traceability of the chilled/frozen supply chain. This is to be achieved by developing cost-effective technologies, devices and approaches for continuous monitoring and recording of the relevant data and processing the data for information management throughout the entire supply chain. As fish is in the third place in the European food market and is one of the most sensitive products with regard to food poisoning, the chilled and frozen fish supply chain has been selected as the test case.

FRESHLABEL is a collective research project co-funded by the European Commission under the 6th Framework Programme. Horizontal research activities involving SMEs. The project is a research program working towards an integrated approach to enable traceability of the cold chain of fresh, chilled meat and fish products by means of tailor-made Time/Temperature Indicators (TTIs). The primary objective of FRESHLABEL is to develop such tailor-made TTIs for the European meat and fish industries. The indicators will be tailored to the shelf life and optimum storage conditions of the products they are designed to monitor.
